Each year the Southwestern Track and Field Association will reward ONE young certified official with the "Chester Bradley Honorarium" in the amount of $150.Chester Bradley developed a substantial reputation across state and country as not only a great official but also as a great MENTOR for young officials. Chester is no longer with us, but in 2015 the SWTFOA board passed a motion to carry on the spirit of Chester's mentorship through this honorarium. The board recognizes that young officials are a vital and under-represented section of the track and field official population, and it's important to encourage our young officials at every available opportunity. Similar to the SWTFOA Official of the Year award, nominees for the Chester Bradley Honorarium may be suggested by any certified official, including themselves. The final recipient is to be decided on by a majority vote from the SWTFOA board and announced at the SWTFOA annual meeting. The recipient of the honorarium will be the official who best meets the following criteria; * Under 40 years of age * Part of the Southwestern Association * Officiated at least 6 meets this year * Officiated at least one Championship meet (USATF, HS state or collegiate) * Traveled 100+ miles to officiate a meet * Through performance, behavior and attitude demonstrated a genuine desire to learn and develop into one of our nation's outstanding officials.
